Will you be proud of the work you did today… tomorrow?

Most of us pay close attention to what’s expected of us at work which is the deadline, the deliverable, the goal, the standard.

But how often do we ask ourselves: What do I expect from me?

Every task has room for your personal touch. Your perspective. Your creativity. Your standard of excellence. That’s part of what makes each of us unique in the workplace.

But being proud of your work also requires being self-critical in the moments when you know your future self would expect more. It means constantly checking in with yourself:

  • Am I moving toward my goals?

  • Am I honoring my boundaries?

  • Am I operating according to my values?

  • Am I producing work that reflects who I say I want to become?

The answer won’t always be yes, and that’s okay. The point is to recognize it and keep getting better.

Because just when you think you’ve reached excellence, the bar raises. Just when you think your work was insignificant, you may discover that it impacted more people than you could see.

Do work today that your future self will be proud to claim.

You got this!
